Short intro of my surrounding area

HellO!
Juz a simple website for me to upload some photos of my trip & share my experience over here in the US (Queensbury, New York state). Not much details because of limited internet access, so juz photos & some description =)

Here's a picture of my hostel, called Martha's Motel. This is the girl's dorm, full of Singaporeans, china-rians, Columbians, Turkish, Ukranians and Hongkies.
Directly in front of the hostel is this ice cream stall called - Martha's Ice Cream! (this is where my bday ice cream cake came from hehe)

Below is a photo of route 9, a long road juz outside our hostel (Martha's Motel), which separates us from the themepark and stretches all the way from Walmart to the factory outlets.
This is taken from the top of the (slight) slope, which actually makes a very big difference, especially when we're carrying our week's supply of grocery back from Walmart! Towards the direction of the upslope is Walmart (20 mins walk) and Panera Bread, the cafe which has free wireless, cosy sofas & yummy sandwiches soup and bagels. (30 mins walk). Special mention about Gambles Bakery & Coffee! The cosy & heartwarming little shop which sells delicious home-made breakfast like pancakes, omelettes and hot chocolate! More about it later!

Further down route 9 would be Aviation Mall (40 mins) and other shops like Mcdonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Wendy's (fast food) and Dunkin Donuts.

Here's a picture of.. WALMART! A very American thing! The one i studied about during Strategic Management or was it Accounting or Marketing?!?! aNyway, this is WALMART! Will capture the inside another day.. it sells LOTS of amazing stuff! Shelves full of canned soups, fridges full of microwavable veges/meat/.. frozen meals (E pple are really lazy, so every dish/food is made easy..washed/pre-packed.. u juz have to pop it into the microwave & it can be eaten.. this explains their size...) Different kinds of beverages frm concentrates to bottled drinks to gigantic bags of potato chips of different flavours and patterns. Simply overwhelming.
They sell guns as well! Glass shelves of ammunition, long guns, pistols.. i dun really dare to go near it though haha!

Towards the opposite direction of Walmart are the boy's dorm called 'Somerset Cabin' (which aren't as comfy as the girls' dorm) factory outlets such as GAP, Nine West, Timberland, Hush puppies, Banana Republic, Reebok, Polo Ralph and others.

This is a view of the area.

Special appearance by Mr Lincoln. (pronounced as 'ling-ken' by the locals & they call me 'J' or 'G')

The road signs are.. CoNfuSinG..

All right, thats it for my surroundings that are reachable by foot. Really appreciate the public transport in Singapore, the distance frm our hse to the swimming pool is almost half the distance from our Martha's to Walmart and i'm already complaining! Not forgetting all the heavy groceries or laptop that we have to lug around.
That's all folks! Have a nice day~
